This was fun! Enchanting! Full of hilarious adventures! You'll have tears in your eyes from laughter and a heart full of hope that these two people will find themselves together for they're HEA.
This was not the great book with a lot of witty banner . The girl was childish and spoiled. The rake was not too great either. I can't understand what either of them saw in the other. I can't in any way understand her attraction to the wimp she keeps trying to run off to marry. No way was this as good as advertised.
This book held my attention and I finished it in one sitting unlike many romances I have read recently. It had some wonderful banter and the love scenes were well done. That being said, I found the story beginning to drag in certain places and at some points was thinking "...not again!"..I mean who runs away three times with a man one knows one does not love..I also did not like the ending scene. But, the book had a good story overall and I will be on the look out for other books by this author.
A wonderful follow -up story to 'Secrets of a Wedding Night'. You can't help but love Annie. Such an adventurous little minx you have to keep reading just to see what she'll do next! Wow! How I loved the opening trellis scene! Annie's hanging there all askew by one arm trying to explain to Jordan why she's there and Jordan (Lord Ashbourne) is standing below her wondering what he's gotten himself into.You see, Jordan has given his word to his best friend Devon to watch over Annie while Devon and Lily are on their honeymoon. When Annie continues to put herself in compromising situations Jordan decides he's had enough and whisks her away to his country estate. Oh my - now he's done it. The more time he spends with Annie the harder it becomes for him to resist her charms. I have to tell you I stayed up late reading this book because I couldn't wait to see how it all came together. And let me say - It was worth every hour. It's a wonderful fun filled story full of charm, romance and lots of chuckles.

The more they are together, the more they feel the heat of their attraction. Will the runaway bride find love with this rake? Valerie Bowman weaves a romantic tale filled with tenderness and sparkling wit. Annie and Jordan are a wildly passionate couple. Sparks fly when they are together. They capture my heart with their romance and drew me in with their desire and uncertainty. This book is part of the Secret Brides series. I love all the characters especially Aunt Clarissa, the worst chaperone possible. I wish Annie and Jordan happiness and love. A wonderful story that left me smiling!
Secrets of a Runaway Bride reintroduces us to two of Bowman’s characters from her first Secrets book, Secrets of a Wedding Night, which I have not read. Despite being part of a series the book stands alone just fine. It opens with Miss Annie Andrews’ ongoing campaign to secure marriage to her true love, Arthur Eggleston. Her sister and brother-in-law are on their honeymoon, Annie’s has the requisite intoxicated and neglectful Aunt as a chaperone, and she is determined to create the loving family she dreams of with Eggleston. Jordan Holloway, the Earl of Ashbourne, is Annie’s new brother-in-law’s best friend and of course, he has been tasked with looking out for Miss Andrews. Since everyone knows that heroes are never ever named Eggleston, you can imagine what happens next.

On the surface Secrets of a Runaway Bride is a typical historical romance. Annie is sweet, doesn’t know how attractive she is, and the kind of trouble that is just the right amount of mischief without being truly harmful. Jordan is mature, aloof, and naturally, determined not to marry. While Jordan is pretty much your typical hero, the story is saved entirely by Annie. For nearly the first half of the book her behavior is cringe worthy. I think because most of us have made a fool of ourselves over a love interest, but I wanted to hit her and force her to read He’s Just Not That Into You. Annie makes a spectacle of herself trying to force Arthur to love her and well, he’s just not that into her. There is a point in the book where there is this beautifully written, heartbreaking scene where Annie has to ride home in a carriage with Jordan and his mistress. She is humiliated to a point where I cried for her, her reputation is dangling precariously, and the reader thinks that finally, finally, she has learned her lesson. But nope, she’s right back at it a chapter later.

In the end though, Annie wants what we all want, to be loved. It’s endearing, she’s endearing, and you’re rooting for her disastrous self all along the way.
Quite the romp through the pages! The reader quickly realizes the hero and heroine are in love, but they refuse to see it. It was quite a fun read. Cannot wait to read more of this author's books!
