I read book 1 of this series, really liked it and was eager to continue on to see more Hir males seek out human females for their lifemates. I like this alien world, how these warriors cherish and regard women, and both heroes so far have been exemplary. Kind, patient, protective, sweet alphas.

Picture a tall blond Viking-like hottie with cranial ridges, glowing green eyes, and fangs, add in super protective and caring, and you have R'har. A sweet and sexy gentle giant. What I didn't care for was the heroine. I was hoping I'd warm up to her, but I just didn't get there. I thought Hope was rude, condescending, and judgmental, and I imagine she was expert at resting b!tchface. Girl was working my last nerve.

I didn't care for the sneering 'backwoods hick' or 'redneck' comments she made. I thought she was beyond rude, even mean, definitely obnoxious, and how she mimicked a Southern accent teed me right off. Plus, Hope hurt R'har's feelings a few times, and I was thinking he ought to take her azz back to Earth, ask for a refund, and start shopping for another female, pronto. I thought she was way too hard on him.

Fairly enjoyable addition to the series for the most part, except for that heroine. The hero was sweet and sexy, though. And the epilogue was good with that sweet update on the h/H from book 1. I enjoy the author's writing, and I'm looking forward to book 3, but hope I like the next heroine a lot more. This one, I wanted to throat punch her. 2.5*

Taken Warriors of Hir Book 2 Willow Danes 9780692377734 Books Reviews

Entertaining second book in this new Scifi series by Willow Danes.

I was looking forward to the new installment of thus series and was not disappointed. I absolutely loved the Hero - he was the perfect , good looking ,nobel warrior who would probably been nominated for the Peace Nobel Prize if he would be a) real and b) from earth. Maybe he was a bit too good to be true, but hey, isn't that the reason why we read books like that ....I at least do and my romantic site ravels in a hero like that.

The heroine , a piece of work for sure , was not as likable , but she did grew on me and in the end worked out well.

The underlying plot was the same as the first - alien male captures human female - but that was the only similarity between book one and two. The book was cleverly written, the dialogues were well done , the love scenes present for sure ,but did not take over the story line. Overall , a very good book and I will continue reading this series ( I really, really hope that the good Doctor Ki'slan will get one story and a nice human life mate someday ....)
I liked the H much more than the h. R'har was sweet,OTT protective of Hope. She had some trust issues causing a lot of problems for her and R'har. She was hurt and lied to by her father, her boyfriends, and friends so she vowed never to be made a fool of by falling in love. R'har has been looking for his life mate and comes upon Hope the same place Jenna and Ra'kur met,the mountains in NC. Hope is resistance to all R's charms, and he has kidnap and deceive her to her to trust him. She finally does and they fall in love, but when an enemy attacks them,R believing he's dying tells Hope he lied just so he could get to know better. She renounces him as her life mate and wants to return to Earth. It takes a rude awakening from Jenna for Hope to realize her love for her alien. I had some issues with how Hope treated R'har, especially once he tells her he lied. She takes all her anger and mistrust of her past out on poor R'har who just admires her. She needed Jenna's tough love realize what she has. My "hope" for book 3 is a little change up to how and where the h and H meet, just so it doesn't become too formulaic.
I will have put a 5 stars rating for this story and world because I really loved it, as I loved the first one. But all along the story I have this dual feeling because of the obnoxious narrow mind and selfcentered and problematic heroine that push me to put a 3 stars.
I don't know if it is the author genius which made her write and depicted the heroine as this, and wanted me to be sooooo annoyed at the heroine that I wanted her to leave and get back on earth and leave alone and in peace R'har. Or if it wasn't at all intended and Hope is just and obnoxious rude and narrow minded little girl.
If it is the first solution and the author wanted really for me, reader, to feel annoyed about Hope's behaviour and character, well, hands down it was really well done. And the author should have a 5 stars on this one.
But if it is not intended, well I just can say, I wished Strongly R'har wasn't lifemated to her at all! It will have been less painful for him and me.
But the story, until the end, is based on Hope's poor and rude, selfcentered and father-trouble complex behaviour, which make me think of the first option; and the author had well intended to depicted Hope this way to make hell for R'har and build her story.
Unfortunately I'm split at the end. Because even if at the end every thing is pink with little cute flying elephants, and Hope apologized for her previous behaviour, keeping the pace of my reading, and not having blissful weeks to pounder on it as their couple is having, I cannot for my part forget her rude and unpleasant comportment. I just don't like her, at all. And like the other heroine of the last book said, she is just at the base a selfish troubled little townie b**ch.
However I loved R'har. He is the hero from the top oh his head to the tip of his toes. He is the dream man. Gentle, considering. Empathetic, loving, good, and skillful. And to put the cherry on the cake, he is cute, and a fabulous lover! What to ask more for!
But Hope because of her self doubt. Her wounded past, which I could empathize with, if she was a bit less judgemental and self righteous, wounded him deeply, and in front of everyone, and for a long long time she keep him miserable. She even know in a way that she has a problem and she is making a little problem worst. But even knowing that she kept wounding the hero. And I couldn't appreciated her just for that.
The "f****" word also was a bit too much present in her sentences and replicas. Which did no help.
Otherwise the world is great, the writing is great. And I really enjoy the story, and will read the next one. I just hope not see the same design for the next heroine.
